What an 8 to 12 week Casana Pro pilot looks like

Three to five players, seats installed at home, weekly two-minute reports for the medical staff, and a review of what it caught. Here is the protocol and the data terms.

Clubs do not buy monitoring systems on a demo. They run a short pilot, see what the data shows about players they already know well, and decide. A Casana Pro pilot is built around that: small, time-boxed, and judged on whether the medical staff found it useful.

The shape of it

  • Players: three to five, mixed positions, ideally including one athlete in rehab or returning to play. Men's and women's squads both work.
  • Length: eight to twelve weeks. Long enough for baselines to settle and for at least one real change to show up.
  • Where: seats installed at each player's home, on a standard elongated toilet with the US two-bolt mount. Installation is a few minutes with basic tools. Check fit before kick-off.
  • Who sees what: agreed in week one, in writing, before any seat is installed.

Week by week

Week 1, kick-off. A call with the head of medical or performance to agree the players, the data terms and the report format. The player owns the data; the club sees what the player agrees to share.

Weeks 2 and 3, baselines. Seats go in. Each player's normal starts forming: resting heart rate, respiration, seated weight, sit-to-stand power, left/right loading. Nothing is flagged yet because there is nothing to compare to.

Weekly from week 3, reports. A two-minute read for each player's athletic trainer or physical therapist: the trends, anything moving outside the player's band, and a pointer to where to look. No dashboards to learn.

Weeks 8 to 12, review. What it caught, what it missed, how often staff acted on it, and whether to roll out to the roster.

Data terms

The arrangement mirrors what league agreements require of biometric data: participation is voluntary, the athlete sees every reading first, sharing is opt-in and revocable, and the data is never used in contract decisions. Readings are encrypted and never sold. Casana Performance provides a one-page data agreement as a starting point; clubs can use their own.

What staff tell us they need

Three things come up on every kick-off call: that it does not add work for the player, that the report is short enough to read on a phone between sessions, and that a flag is a prompt to look rather than a verdict. The pilot is designed around all three.

Casana Pro is a wellness product, not a diagnostic device. It surfaces trends for a medical team to review.
